On Friday Gavin went on an overnight camp out with his scout troop. They went to a place called Topaz Mountain. Gavin is the troop historian and so he took his camera and got some really great shots of the wildlife in that area.
This is a pronghorn. She was trying to distract the boys from her babies. Right after she ran past them they went over this little ridge and her babies were there waiting for her. She went around the boys and went back to get her babies and they all hopped off together.

These cute little things are baby Hawks. While the boys were hiking up the mountain they noticed the nest but didn't think anything would be in it...Surprise! Two little babies.

We celebrated Graysons birthday before the big kids took off on Friday. Gavin went on his scout camp and Sophie went to her aunt Rebecca's for a girls night out. She had a blast. I think it is so important for the kids to have a little one on one time with the grown ups in their lives. It makes them feel so special.

We took Gray to Chili's for the ribs. This was not his first choice, but we had a gift card that needed to be used. We will have to do a makeup birthday dinner for him and he can choose the place we go. He was having a hankering for seafood, so next time we go out, seafood it will be. The little kids were thrilled that Gray shared his birthday shake with them. Yummers! After dinner aunt Kim came and picked up Gray for a special birthday date. She spoiled him rotten for his birthday and he loved every minute of it.
On Saturday we had the Schmalz side of the family over for a big party for the May/June birthdays. June is a crazy busy month for the Schmalz's. I share my birthday with Xandi's mom, then the rest of the week we have two of Xandi's brothers and a sister, and then his twin brothers have a birthday toward the end of the month.

On my birthday, Sunday, we took a drive out the Vernon Reservoir. Xandi, being the elders quorum president is in charge of the fathers and sons and he is not getting much sleep worrying about this event. He hates being in charge of big events. I still tease him to this day about the reason we moved from our old neighborhood. They put him in as the activity chair and that's all it took to run him out of town. So to ease his mind we drove out to get a feel for the area and make some plans. He did sleep better last night just being able to have a vision of how the event was going to go down. The kids had fun walking around the lake and it was a good drive...

Up until Gentry had a little accident. (Warning: don't look too close, it's what you think it is!) When you gotta go, you gotta go and if there isn't a bathroom around you gotta go anyway! Xandi thought it was so very funny that Gentry did this to me on my birthday. He never grabs the camera and takes pictures but for some reason this struck him as something that we should capture for all to enjoy. While he was taking these pictures and laughing, he just kept on singing, "happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you".

It was your birthday--you really should have been the one behind the camera don't you think??
Well, Happy Birthday anyway!
What a great shot! Gentry owes you big time some day. Until I clicked on the picture, I wasn't sure if I saw what I thought I saw. You guys are so funny! I hope you had a fabulous birthday!!
WHY WERE YOU CHANGING? IT WAS YOUR BIRTHDAY!
Your blog is so cute every week. I can't wait to see you on Thursday.....Its been a long week. Happy belated bday.... You youngster!!!
You can't run me outta town, with a calling like that;)
Good luck with Fathers and sons, the hard work always pays off.
And then the normal sleep pattern resumes:)
How funny is that. I love that you two can laugh so easily with one another. I think I would have been so ticked he was tacking a picture but there you are smiling. By the way, until I saw them all pictured together I didn't realize you had five kids. You really are super woman and need to have five more because you are so good at it. Seriously Jeff and I took a vote and we voted you two the couple of the year. He told me you guys have cleaned the church every week for the last six weeks. Brutal, and there you are smiling through all your callings and kid raising and poopy bums and all. When you start offering classes on how you do it sign me up!!
That is hilarious!! I hope you had a good day!!
Maybe when your kids know Dan and I a little better we will have them over for a night out too! We would love to do that! We love your kids they are adorable!! See ya soon!
Happy Birthday!
You never see this in the glam movies - right? Have to love real life!
