My Busy Life

I am alive!
I have, however, been on a blogging hiatus these past few weeks. Just too much to do in this whirlwind month. I feel like I am being pulled in so many different directions. I feel like I live in my car. I feel like as soon as I climb one mountain, I have another one looking right at me. Looking forward to a little relaxation. Not sure where it is coming from yet, or when I might get it, but mark my words, I will relax the first chance an opportunity arises.

Here is a little glimpse into what we've been up to.

The Schmalz Family Good News Minute
Gavin went out for football!!! 6 a.m. conditioning and after school mandatory track practices means a happy and tired and hungry kid. I think he is grateful to be involved and is loving all the new things he is learning.  He ran in his first track meet last week and is learning how to throw the discus and the javelin. Go Westlake!
Sophie made the school musical - The Music Man!!! She is playing Gracie Shin, the Mayors youngest daughter. She has a whopping three lines and gets to learn all the songs and cute dances. She is thrilled to be involved, even though the grueling practices are almost everyday after school. She also started back up with piano lessons. She loves the piano, so much that she is trading babysitting in order to take lessons. I have always told her with those long beautiful fingers she was blessed with, that she better be a piano player! We have loved being the beneficiaries to her piano practicing. I LOVE piano music!
Grayson has been busy with Jump Team and all the practices and field-trips to be able to perform for other schools. Futsal season just wrapped up and spring soccer is well on it's way, which means practices three days a week, even out in the cold, and games starting up here really soon. Go Arsenal!
Delanie has been a reading wild woman! Her first grade teacher set a class goal to have every student read at least 1200 minutes in the month of February. Lanie ended up with over 1400 minutes! I am so proud of her and how hard she worked on this goal. This poor bug has also had some bad luck with her teeth again. Her and her not so good teeth. She ended up with an abscessed tooth and it needed to be pulled. Not a good day for my bug. I sure hope her big girl teeth have a little better enamel and that she won't have to struggle with bad teeth her entire life. All I can say is yeah for tooth fairies, getting some cash for her pain is the only thing good about it!
Gentry just had his kindergarten check up and rocked it like a champ! Two shots, and had to get his blood drawn without so much as a whimper! I was so proud of him! Another AWESOME thing is that he graduated from speech therapy. He was so excited. He still has some bad habits that we need to continue to work on, but this boy is a talker. Oh yea, and have you seen him break dance? If you want to learn some new moves, Gentry is your guy!

Now this is just a glimpse, if I listed everything that has been going on it would just make Xandi and I out to be super heroes or something, and we don't want to make anyone feel bad. (wink, wink)
We love our busy life!

I'm tired just reading all of that! That you for fitting us all into your crazy life. It was so good to see everyone last weekend. When did Gavin get so mature? He's going to have his father's voice, isn't he?

Life can be overwhelmingly busy can't it? I always think of Finding Nemo - Just keep swimming, swimming, swimming, just keep swimming...

Oh man... you ARE a superhero! I miss you, seriously. When life slows down we need to go to lunch... we can pack sack lunches and eat in your car! :)
