CANCER SUCKS!
We can say this now because we know first hand how bad it really sucks. Gavin's best friend and pretty much his older brother from another mother-Taylor was diagnosed with hodgkins lymphoma around Christmas time and has been going through a lot of poopy stuff ever since. Surgery, chemo, lots of doctor and hospital visits, mixed with extreme fatigue, mental exhaustion, and a complete change of life. I think Gavin has suffered some of those things just for the fact that he has had to give up his best friend to cancer for a while. Nobody wants to let cancer win though so how can one boy help another boy in the fight of his life? Fight with him I say.In honor of Taylor, Gavin shaved his head! In honor of Gavin, who is honoring his best friend, Grayson shaved his head, and in honor of his two boys Xandi claimed his natural hair loss was in honor of his boys honoring Taylor! The point is, Taylor is not the only baldie in town and if that is one way friends can show support for friends fighting a tough battle, then go for it.
Gavin also decided he could help earn some cash to pay for some of the cost in this cancer fight. He came to us with a few ideas and we decided together to order some silicone bracelets that say "Team Taylor" in his favorite colors (red and black) and then Gav took the idea to the principal of his school to see if he could sell them at school. The principal loved the idea but said that Gavin would have to do a presentation in front of student counsel to get their approval. That went off without a hitch and the student counsel is working on a plan with Gavin to get this fundraiser going. If anyone is interested in joining "Team Taylor", you can contact Gavin and he will hook you up with the official club bracelet.
I am so proud of Gavin. He has such a good heart, and he is the best friend to have. It has been hard for him, as it would be for anyone I think. Often times you have no idea what to say or what to do. You really can't make anything better, no matter how you wished you could. The best thing you can do is keep a prayer in your heart always, love the people around you for as long as you can, and shave your head if you have to.

Love that boy of yours! Actually all of your boys. Cancer DOES suck - big! But having Gavin in our lives helps make it bearable. He is amazing! Thanks to you and Xandi for raising such a wonderful young man. We couldn't ask for a better friend for Taylor - or Jonah. Love ya much!
Wow, what an awesome kid(s).
