The Power of Gratitude

It is a powerful thing, this gratitude. Thinking about what I am grateful for truly helps me be a happier person. Especially when I am thinking about the people in my life that mean the most to me. It strengthens my relationships with them. I love them and when I have an attitude of gratitude, it shows.

Gratitude means thankfulness. Counting your blessings. Noticing simple pleasures. It is learning to live your life as if everything were a miracle. Because it is.

As I have gotten older it has become more easy for me to realize just how content I am with my life. Some people are never content. They have a hard time believing that they are a success unless they have the best of everything. The best house. The best car. The best toys. The best kids. The best body. It has become easier for me as time has passed and I have had certain life experiences, that gratitude really shifts the focus from what you lack in your life to what you already have in abundance. It truly is the small stuff that matters most.

In this month of Thanksgiving, I would like to feel the power of gratitude in my everyday life. There are so many things that fill my heart with joy. Thanks to this friend and her challenge, I will be posting the small blessings in my life on my sidebar the entire month of November.

"If the only prayer you say in your
life is 'thank you', that would suffice."
