I'm coming out...

Yep, I am! Noooooo, not like Clay Aiken or Lindsay Lohan, but I do feel like I have to come clean with something. I have been kind of embarrassed to admit that I have had to take on another part time job (Christmas is in 89 days and thirteen hours, but who’s counting?! Plus, five kids, need I say more?) and it is starting to really be noticeable to the people around me, so time to come clean...
I have taken on a paper route. Yep, 3 o'clock in the morning is when I start my day, unless it’s Sunday, then its 2:30, yikes! I AM desperate for some money and I guess I will do anything. I tried to get some extra hours at work, but that didn't work out, plus the whole daycare for the little ones issue. You all know what it’s like. This way I am not giving up any time with the kids, and our dad doesn't have to spend anymore time away from his family than he has to.

Hhhhmmm that felt good. Like a weight has been lifted off of my shoulders! And now you will all understand when I am walking around in a fog acting like I am stoned, I am NOT, I am very tired though.

Oh ya, I will no longer be accepting any phone calls after 9 pm, that’s my bedtime, and the hardest thing that this night owl has ever had to do. Really, 9 pm!

You are amazing. Just when I think you couldn't be any more amazing you reveal this. You know you make the rest of us look bad right. Sucks for you. It's amazing what you can do when you put your mind to it though. If you need me to take your kids so you can get a nap in please call me. The girls would love to play.

You are so good that I bet you don't even throw them in the bushes or on the roof. Good girl!

I've thought about doing this, but my sleep keeps winning out.

The technical term for 3:30 am is the butt-crack of dawn, sorry to make this a pg-13 blog. I don't know how you do it, WHEN I work that is the time we are getting up, sometimes and it makes for A LONG day....send the kids over any time, we would love to have them!!

We seriously considered a paper route ourselves actually! But 2:30 or 3:00??? Wow! Actually, we couldn't do it, because I am already at work at that time on the weekends anyway. I'll be thinking of you at that hour!

You are such a sweetheart to sacrifice so much for your family. Just don't chase me around on your bike screaming "I WANT MY TWO DOLLARS!"

Holy crow!!! I am so impressed! You're amazing!! Who needs sleep anyway right??? Plus it's a great story to tell your kids when they have kids, ie...

"do you know what I did to give you kids a good Christmas??? I took a paper route, that's right! I got up at 2:30 in the morning just so you could have something nice!! See how much I love you???"

You could potentially use this for years!!

I feel your pain, as I had my own paper route a few years back. It's amazing what you can do with the right motivation, isn't it?

I have to clarify my comment to you the other night. It would be VERY painful for me to get up that early. I think it would be easier to stay up, do the route, then come home and sleep until noon. You could keep your kids up and then they would sleep too. :) SO my comment again, "You know it would be less painful to donate plasma." :) You rock!

I'm so glad this wasn't what I thought you might say... just kidding. Wow, hang in there, sorry it is so hard right now, I'd love to have your kids over every Tuesday or Thurs. mornings to play with Sadie so you can sleep and I can get stuff done too.

I thought about doing that at one time, just because of the not-needing-a-babysitter thing, and the steady income...maybe you've inspired me and I'll end up doing it.
