I love it when people ask me how my summer is going with a wisp of apprehension in their voice, as if I were going to say that it was awful or something because I have all the kids home. I for one would just like to state for the record that I love being surrounded by my kids. I actually would much rather have them home for the summer than helping them with homework and having to stick to schedules. I love the laid back spontaneousness of summer. Besides, the older kids are a huge help for me around the house, helping with chores, and keeping the little ones occupied. Granted, there are days that I wish I could put them in a crate and ship them one way to Africa to be with their wild animal family, but days like today make up for those days.

You are a great mom! I am so glad we are sisters (in law). You are such a good example to me and anyone else who has kids or wants kids. We really need to get our kids together more often. I feel sad that we live so close but sometimes feel so far apart.
