Pizza-Pumpkins-Partay

The BEST idea I have heard in a long time...the kids voted for Monday to be pizza night. Every Monday. I am really cool with that!

Carving Crazies!

It's hard to see the finished results because I have a lame camera, but we have the Star ship Enterprise, a RIP headstone, Frankenstein, a witch, and a vampire.

Service with a Smile

No, we are not at the Amazing Race check in point, but we are at Fidelity Investments school makeover service day, and it was awesome. Love doing service with the fam (minus Gav- not sure I like this whole working thing)

After our day of service we headed over to grandma and grandpa Basses to see if they needed any help with anything and to check on the sick and afflicted. Still no good at the old folks home... My dad is not getting better, and my worry is getting more worrisome. It was great to visit with them though and the kids got to work playing...I mean raking up the leaves in the yard. Fun times.

Geek alert...

A common sight at the Schmalz home. A bunch of Trekkie's glued to the television!
What you are missing out on by not being here...All the kids rushing to get homework and showers done so we can start ANOTHER episode, and Gray's interpretative dance to the opening credits to Star Trek Voyager. I have no words...

Grandpa update and some family fun...

Xandi took the day off again and we started the day off at the temple. The perfect way to calm my troubled heart.
Next stop, the hospital to visit the old man again. Things don't seem to be looking up for him quite yet but after the abdominal ultrasound and the MRI, the doctors have settled on an abscess in his liver. Still waiting to hear what the plan of action is. It will need to be cleaned out surgically, but they will treat it with antibiotics for a couple weeks to help make it more manageable before they go in to suck out the infection. Sounds lovely, hu? We should find out today if he will be sent home with a pic line or just oral antibiotics and when that will happen. I do think he will feel better at home even if he doesn't necessarily feel better at all. Just not having to be at the hospital should boost his spirits. Lets hope.
After the hospital we decided to take the kids out for a date...with ME this time! The Dark Knight at the dollar movie and dinner at The Pie. Fun and Yum!

After our tummy's were full we headed over to check out the Scheels. It's a pretty cool store, a lot like Cabella's but with a lot more clothes.

A great day with my very best friends!

After a day of service yesterday at the annual school makeover day that we participated in with Fidelity investments up in Salt Lake City, we headed up to the Yocom's pool and participated in another annual event...the schmalz family flip competition! Nobody died so we are all winners!
