July 4th Fun

We decided to switch things up this year from our usual July 4th fun and do something a little bit different. We usually head over to the West Jordan parade with the Schmalz's, but this year, with the 4th falling on the first Saturday, we got to go see a pretty cute kid get baptized instead. It was actually a really nice change of pace. That afternoon we headed out to see How To Train Your Dragon. Cute, cute movie. On the way home we stopped and got some Pizza and then we stopped and watched the Thanksgiving Point fireworks from a little country road on the back side. We had a great view without all the crowds. Perfect. Fun family times.
On Monday, beings the mom and dad were off from work, we went over to our neighbors new business in Draper, The Incredible Pizza Company. All you can eat buffet food, mini golf, mini bowling, race track, bumper cars, and arcade games. Don't tell my neighbor, but we stayed there so long we actually ate lunch AND dinner :) The kids had a great time and we will definitely do it again.

In all the fun that we have shared together as a family on the 4th, it is also a time for remembering that we are allowed to have a special day like this, full of happy times and fun, because of the sacrifices made by others This day reminds me of many things. It reminds me of our founding fathers. This day reminds me of the freedoms we enjoy. It reminds me of the fathers and mothers yesterday and today who have made the supreme sacrifice for our freedom. It reminds me of those in my my own family that have paid the price to be free. I am always happy to reflect on how very fortunate I am to live in this country, the United States of America. The 4th of July always reminds me of the promise of America. We truly are the Land of the Free & the Home of the Brave. We may not be perfect, but I am proud to call myself an American.
