ZIONS NATIONAL PARK

We had a blast this past weekend as a family on our very first camping trip ever. What we have called camping in the past was nothing like what we did this weekend. When we go to the Gorge, we call that camping, but it involves running water, flushing toilets, and even heat if we need it. Come to find out, that really isn't camping. NOW we have camped. We got to sleep in a tent on the hard ground in the cold. We had to warm water on the propane stove to do sponge baths. We cooked dinner in our dutch oven which turned out super yummy by the way. We built a fire at night to marsh our mallows. We built a fire in the morning to warm our buns. We hiked. We bonded. We made a memory.

We made some new friends from California. The Bengard family. Two sweet little girls, Hannah and Maya, which our girls took an instant liking to and Broc and Norma were some of the nicest camping neighbors anyone could ask for.
We had a minor setback but we don't need to go into details. We learned our lesson and won't make that mistake again.

Gentry had his fill of yummy water that had seeped through the Weeping Rock...
And then we found the sign... Oops...
We enjoyed this beautiful place that has been millions of years in the making. A success for the record books. We WILL do it again. More memories need to be made,..

SO much fun!! I love that when we camp my husband does all the cooking...dutch oven style. For that reason alone I could camp all the time. And I love how many more stars there are when you're in the wilderness. I'm guessing no illnesses came from the water....Jake's dad made us pancakes using Lake Powell water (accidentally)...we can't say for sure but ALL of us on that houseboat ended up with they yuckies.
