Mysterious Creature Of The Night

So, the past little while Gentry has started coming into our bed in the middle of the night. He never wakes us, he just slips in like a mysterious creature of the night. I roll over, and he is there. I really don't mind it all that much, it is such a short time that little ones are little and they actually want to be attached to you like a magnet. I'll take it while I can get it. Well the past couple weeks we have been battling one form of sickness or another around these parts, especially Lanie. The poor girl has gone from the stomach bug to the upper respiratory bug, back to the stomach bug, to an earache. In the process of all the sickness we have woken up with two kids sandwiched between us almost every night. It's not fun clinging to the edge of your very own bed trying not to fall out! We decided to take things into our own hands and bribe the kids to stay in their own beds. We'll do what we have to.
Gentry has really been wanting a superhero wallet and watch. I told him that if he stayed in his bed for seven days that I would buy him a wallet, and if he stayed in his bed for another seven days he would earn his watch. He was all over this idea. He went and found a piece of paper and drew the watch and wallet that he wanted and then I told him that if he stayed in his bed that he would be able to make a mark, once he got seven marks, we would go to the store. He made it two whole days.
Last night, I awoke to a quiet whisper at the edge of my bed saying, "mom, I don't want a wallet anymore." Then he slid up next to me and wrapped my arm around him. My heart skipped a beat as I realized that things like this do not last.
Oookay, you can have whatever you want Batman!

Ten years from now, he'll never believe that story. Is there anything sweeter than those little arms around you?

What a sweet mommy you are! I always feel guilty for sending any of my kids away too! I love your attitude about it! They won't want to sleep next to me for very long! Do you feel special that you are more important than any wallet or watch? You should...GOOD CHOICE BATMAN!!!

I have that very same problem every night. At least yours start out in their own though! I always tell myself that in the future I will wish for these nights back again! It helps.
