Christmas Day

It all started at 6:32 in the morning when I heard a bedroom door let out a little creek, then a whisper "can we come out?"
Around these parts when it comes to cereal, we buy what is on sale and has a coupon to match. Other than that, it usually comes in a big ol' bag. One of the Christmas traditions we started quite a few years ago was that we take the kiddos cereal shopping a few days before Christmas and let them pick whatever their little heart desires and that's what they get to eat on Christmas morning. The kids love this tradition. Can you guess who picked what? We always follow up breakfast a few hours later with second breakfast (like the hobbits) and this year it was a yummy egg casserole, hash-browns, and the most delicious tropical pudding salad that Kimmie made.
Santa really came, and Gentry could not believe his eyes!

Sharing Christmas with our Kimmie.

The proof that the Schmalz Kids ARE spoiled!

The boys got some cool tech wear with reflective G's on the pocket. Very cool.

The girls got matching navy blue cardigans. Cute.

We spent much of the day watching Lanie bug apply and reapply her new Barbie makeup again and again and again. We then had a nice visit from grandma and grandpa Bass. It was weird not going and spending the day with them, but we couldn't celebrate Christmas without M & J. We decided to do something that we have never done before on Christmas and that was take the kids to a movie. In a very funny way, I kind of felt like I was breaking the sabbath or something. We ended up loving it and wouldn't mind doing it again next year. The kids had a blast. We saw Princess and the Frog. Cute, cute movie. Hit the Walgreen's for the batteries that Santa forgot, then went home to a beautiful ham, cheesy potatoes, green bean casserole, homemade rolls, and ribbon jello. Are your hungry?

We had a wonderful day together as a family.
We had a very Merry Christmas!

I had a lovely Christmas too! Thanks Schmalz Bunch for having me be a part of your family on Christmas. I love our sleep over and waking up with you! I love the cuddles in bed and the talk of hearing Santa outside. I love the sounds of excited kids waiting until 6 AM to open that door. This year we got an extra 1/2 hour because of some sleepy heads. I love reading stories of Christmas past. I love belonging to somebody! Thanks so much to ALL of you! Love you Ooodles!

That sounds like a lot of fun. We went to a movie, too. You're right - it feels kind of weird, but in a good way.

So sad to have missed you on Christmas this year. Looks like you guys had a blast, as usual.
