Last night we had the pleasure of having Sophie be in charge of family home evening. I love that my children are old enough to actually take charge of the night and make it amazing. She brought the spirit into our home and we all had such a great lesson and reminder. We talked about loving one another, and looking at what is on the inside, because that is what is most important. She had us do a little exercise and go around the room and tell each other what we loved most about each person. It was a very tender moment for me as a mother, and I loved to see what my children really think about each other. I loved how Delanie would giggle every time someone said something nice about her. I found myself giggling too, like a little girl, between tears of joy. I am so grateful that my kids love each other. They really do. I hope and pray that we as a family are building a firm foundation. That we are doing all that we can do to build lasting relationships that will carry them into adulthood and beyond.
The point of the exercise that Soph had us do was to show us that we need to be better at building each other up, rather that tearing each other down. To try not to judge others because you really don't know them on the inside. First of all, for me, it was just so great to see such sweet words spoken about each other. It was a great reminder that we just don't tell each other how much we love one another other often enough. Secondly, how easy it is, even for people who should know better, to judge others. I know that I most recently have been caught in the act. I had it in my mind that I completely had someone figured out. Come to find out, I didn't. This particular person in my mind was nothing but a curmudgeon, nothing but a sourpuss. After spending a little time with them, and getting to know them a little better, I find myself feeling very sad that I didn't even really try before giving them that label.
Love one another as Jesus loves you.
Try to show kindness in all that you do.
Be gentle and loving, in deed and in thought.
For these are the things Jesus taught.

I find that I judge people too. I have found out that you just need to give them a chance. They may not be like you, but they are good people. I agree, Love one another as Jesus Loves You!
Aren't families the best? Sometimes we have to remind ourselves how great they are and how lucky we are to know them...(that includes all of you, by the way).
Out of the mouths of babes! Stacy, your kids are a product of you and Xandi! You are wonderful parents and are doing an amazing job of raising them. That FHE was a payday for you! May you have MANY MANY more! Love you! And... I am thankful for the blessing of you and your sweet family in my life!
Love,
Kimmie
