Tummy Trouble

So let it be know... When it comes to taking care of my own kids, I'm not so good. I am a little bit of a hypochondriac, just a we bit. If it was anybody elses kid, I probably would have called it right, but because it was my own, I panicked. That's okay though, right? I am the mom :)

On Sunday morning I had Sophie pretty much diagnosed and scheduled for surgery, because I thought for sure that she had an appendicitis. After all, she had ALL the symptoms, including the right lower quadrant pain that is classic appendicitis, other than the fact that she forgot to tell me before we were in the ER talking with the Dr, that she had had diarrhea all night the night before. I knew she had been vomiting, and when she woke me up at the crack of dawn with tears in her eyes and crying in excruciating pain, it was off to the emergency room for us. After all, I know these things!

After assessing the situation, getting the little thing all hooked up to an IV and replenishing much needed fluid, giving her the right medicine for the pain, and doing some blood tests, I came to the conclusion that I was probably paying for the most expensive gas of my life! That's okay, she's worth it!

After hours and hours, you kind of get to the point that even if you don't feel that much better, you would just rather be home not feeling that much better. We did finally get to go home, and she has been hooked up with some pretty good drugs, so all is well. They are checking her for a bacteria in her stomach because she has had a lot of tummy trouble lately. In fact, she is pretty much always saying that her stomach hurts, especially after she eats. She thinks she is just hungry, but then it just turns into horrible pain. We'll see what happens with that.

Any how, she is on the mend, and pretty much back to normal today. I feel bad that I sounded the alarm. I hope the troops still come a running next time I need help and love, even if I cried wolf just a bit. Thanks for all the prayers on my little Sophie's behalf. She and I are so very grateful!

So glad it was only gas! ;0 Just so you know, you can sound the alarm anytime you need to. Love you both!

Aw, cute Soph!
I hope she is feeling better. I would have done the same thing. I don't want to tell you what goes through my head sometimes when Jackson says his tummy hurts.
It's hard to think like a dr. and not like a mom.

Oh, poor baby Sophie!! Those pictures killed me. I'm SO glad one of my boys' future wife is doing better! They'll be so relieved.

Poor thing - both of you guys!

I am glad it turned out to be nothing big, but let me know what they find out about her tummy pain after she eats. Tommy is always complaing of that, but not severe enough not to go play.

I hope she's feeling better, poor thing. It's better to overreact than let something get worse than it needs to be. Everyone can use some extra prayers anyway, right?

We had a similar experience with Isaac...ER experience that is. Middle of the night and my son can't breathe. It was our 1st visit to the ER and HOLY MOLY...we just got the bill. It was TOTALLY worth it..even being bra-less and wearing my coke bottle glasses in public.
I'm glad she is ok.
