Over 8,000 Utah elementary school students participated in the production, Hope of America, at BYU's Marriott Center. Grayson was one of the lucky red stripes on the living breathing flag. What an awesome experience that builds such a great sense of patriotism, and we were so happy to be able to go for the second year in a row (Sophie did it last year). I know Grayson had a blast learning all the songs and hand movements. It was quite a sight to see all the kids from schools all over come together and look like they had practiced for weeks.
I only cried once. That is a record. It helped a little bit because I had an inkling as to what was coming next. Patriotic programs always get me. It truly is a blessing that we live in this nation. I am proud of all the men and women that have fought and given their lives for our freedoms, and that continue to do so. I am grateful for our founding fathers that built this country on the principles that it was founded. "One nation, under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all."

That's so cool. I don't remember getting to do anything like that when I was in school. Patriotic songs always get to me, too. Listening to a choir sing the national anthem, it always kills me when they hit that high note. I'm just an old softie, I guess.
