and a MOTHER who will let them have one!
After years and years and years of hearing about how every child in the world needs a dog, the kids finally won. Mini is a really cute Llewellin Setter puppy. Llewellins are super family dogs, great with kids, sweet, loyal, and smart, and I am sure that she will be all of those things to our family. Gavin is also a hunter and I know that Gavin will enjoy her by his side in the future as his hunting companion.
This was a MAJOR decision that came with many, many promises by those kids that wanted a dog so very badly that they would never, ever, ever have to be asked to pick up poop. So let the record show.
I was sold the second I saw my kids light up when we surprised them with her this morning. Dad on the other hand needs some convincing and will need some time to learn to love her as much as the rest of us. I am just waiting for Mini to do something puppy-like and can almost hear the words in my head from Xandi that sound something like this..."I told you so!"
I know, I know, but unconditional love is hard to come by these days and I am all for that!

Let me be the first to say.....
WELCOME lil Mini and congrats to all of you! She is so cute and probably has no idea how much she will be loved and adored by the Schmalz Family (even Xandi) You know Auntie Kim will be available for puppy sitting anytime you need it! I am soooooo excited for you! Love you!
Kimmie
good for you, you caved! Dogs have a way of growing on you, even non-dog-lovers like me :) congrats!
Wow I can't believe you actually did it! :) She is adorable, you will have to let us know how it goes... We too have been holding out.
So cute!! I loved having a dog but NEVER thought I would be SO sad and SO hard to see him go. Enjoy the years you have with him/her(?) They will always be a shoulder to cry on and make you feel special when you feel like no one else cares they will be your BEST FRIEND. I'm so happy for you and I know she/he has come to a GREAT family!!
I heard your new family member barking in the garage when I walked by early this morning. So fun! Maybe one day we will join the ranks of pet-owners, but for now I can barely handle my kids!
